Double Standard

This song, about Marie Trintignant and her murder at the hands of Bertrand Cantat, speaks to the double standard in French laws regarding crimes of passion. Women are more likely to be prosecuted and sentenced (to longer prison terms) for the murder of their spouses than men. That’s one double standard, but this song was also better for being sung by Lady Fuzz than it would be by anyone else.

There’s nothing more intimidating than an angry women peeling a potato.
